Survey of basic facts about diagnostics and differential diagnostics of dementia is brought in the paper. Attention is paid to evaluation of cognitive functions, somatic cause of cognitive deficits, secondary occuring cognitive deficits resulting from another mental disorder, further to the subjective memory impairment, mild cognitive impairment and differential diagnostics of the mostly occuring dementias including dementias with both neurological and psychiatric features.

This work aims to inform the reader about a new individual ambulatory therapy for people addicted to stimulant drugs (cocaine, crack and/or pervitin (methamphetamine)). The new methodology called A Brief Intervention Programme for meth users is used in Great Britain for users of cocaine and crack. Based on the cooperation of P-Centrum, Olomouc and the British company Foundation 66, which developed the methodology mentioned, it has been adapted for the pervitin (methamphetamine) users. The transformation followed after the programme had been applied and evaluated for a year and resulted in a new methodology called Brief Intervention Programme for pervitin...

Based on our experience with cognitive remediation for anorexia nervosa inpatients and with multifamily therapy for eating disorders, we have developed a family-based cognitive remediation program. It targets the main cognitive deficits of these patients, mainly the weak central coherence and set shifting deficiency. Eight families participated in our pilot study, including parents and daughters with anorexia nervosa. Our aim was to assess feasibility and acceptability of the intervention. We describe the first results of quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the program, and suggest modifications for future use.

Electrodermal activity (EDA) allows to evaluate the changes of the sympathetic nervous system during various psychological states by noninvasive approach. Sympathetic overactivity is associated with higher risk of cardiovascular morbidity. Therefore, it is very important to understand of the EDA biomedical principle for following correct evaluation in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to provide the biomedical principle of EDA with clinical application in mental disorders. Methods: The principle of EDA is based on record of electrical variation on the body surface. Skin represents relatively a nonconductive layer. Sweating provides the...
